What is senior support?
Help for seniors mainly concerns people over the age of 55 who need help with home care, but also extends to much older people who can no longer perform certain tasks without support.

Platform for mutual aid between individuals, Askaide wishes to connect all those who want to help their neighbors and have a particular skill that can be of service to seniors and the elderly.

These skills may relate to the following areas:
- Autonomy assistance (use of a walker, toilet assistance, getting up or going to bed)
- Domestic help (preparing meals, carrying meals, taking medication, maintaining cleanliness)
- Companion lady/man (conservation of social relations, appointment at the hairdresser, cultural visit, outing for a walk)

As we explain in detail in our presentation page, Askaide does not take any commission on the services provided as part of the assistance to seniors. The consultation and the deposit of the advertisements are completely free.

You can therefore create your account for free and offer your ads.
How to offer your help to seniors?

Do you live in France or Belgium and do you have time to help seniors? Are you a certified life assistant, or simply accustomed to supporting the elderly to help keep them at home? Are you looking for a few hours of activity or a complementary job?

Askaide then offers you to register for free on its site. Once you have provided us with your contact details (we require proof of identity when registering), you can complete your profile detailing all the types of help you can offer (home help, meal support, toilet elderly people, help with shopping, help with housework, etc.). For health services for seniors, please choose the home care services section instead.

Once published, your profile will be visible on the site and seniors looking for home help will be able to view it and get in touch with you via our messaging system.

Another possibility: you can respond to requests for help placed on the site in the form of advertisements, targeting those that correspond to your abilities, then contact the person wishing your intervention.
What are the financial aids for the elderly?

Financial aid for retirees

If you are retired, your pension funds (the default one and the supplementary pension fund) can offer you different types of financial assistance.
This can be financial aid for the purchase of technical equipment (for example a walker), or to finance the intervention of a home help.
Askaide therefore recommends that you contact your pension funds so that they can tell you the amount and terms of the financial assistance that may be offered to you.

Personalized Autonomy Allowance (APA)

The APA is an allowance paid by the departmental council (this concerns France). Its purpose is to help maintain elderly or dependent people at home by contributing to the costs of the services necessary for this maintenance.
This may concern all the services offered in the self-help advertisements published by Askaide. The allowance can also go towards the purchase of hygiene supplies or the carrying out of small jobs (for example: installing a grab bar in your bathroom).

To benefit from the APA, you must reside in France, be over 60 years old and be in loss of autonomy (this loss is assessed by the agents of the departmental council). The level of loss of autonomy is noted according to a precise grid, which you can consult here: AGGIR grid.

Financial aid La GRAPA for seniors in Belgium

The Income Guarantee for the Elderly (GRAPA) is financial assistance for people aged over 65 residing in Belgium.
To obtain it, you must prove a low amount of income (less than €1,368 per month in 2022).
